From Paro a day excursion to Haa valley will open your eyes to remote, high land settlements. Finally, you will be driven back to Paro and explore the Kyichu Lhakhang and hike to Taktsang Monastery. On arrival at Paro airport, you will be greeted by our guide and driver. After lunch in Paro town you can walk to the Rinpung Dzong crossing a traditional wooden bridge. Drive or walk further to Tadzong, an ancient watch tower now converted to National Museum. The view of Paro valley from here is superb. From here, you will be taken to Kichu Lhakhang, one of theoldest and the most sacred shrine in the country. In the evening, you will drive to Thimphu.
In the morning, you will explore Bhutan’s capital city Thimphu through Takin Sanctuary, Folk Heritage Museum, School of Arts and Crafts, Biggest Buddha statute and Trashichho Dzong.
After good lunch in Thimphu, enjoy scenic drive to Punakha. Stop at Dochula pass (3150 meters) where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. From the pass, drive downhill to Metshina Village, where you can take 20-minute walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the Divine Madman’s temple.
In the morning enjoy a beautiful hike to Khamsum chorten traversing through rice fields along the river side and finally climbing up to the monastery following a well-trodden old trail. Once on the hill top and further getting on the top of the temple the treat of breathtaking view of Mochu valley is simply fascinating. Later visit Punakha Dzong and take a cool breeze walk on the country’s longest suspension bridge.
After lunch, drive to Phobjekha valley popularly known as crane valley. The drive is scenic coming across occasional remote village and gradually climbing up to Lawola pass just before droping drown to Phobjekha valley suddenly opening to mesmerizing valley view.
Visit the crane information center in the morning. Do the Gangtey nature trail hike and later visit Gangtey Monastery before heading back to Paro.After lunch in Wangdi or Thimphu, continue drive to Paro. In the evening, you can stroll in Paro town.
Drive to Haa valley about 2.5 hours across Chelela (3899M) the country’s highest motor road pass which is indeed very scenic taking one along various level of vegetation finally going above the tree line. On clear days the captivating view of Jomolhari and the panoramic view of Paro valley and Haa valley on either side can keep one’s memory fluttering endlessly. Descend further down to Haa valley and meet Haaps, the people of Haa. The place is quite and calm, suddenly you will feel Haa is indeed more remote and has less people. Visit lhakang Karpo and Nagpo, drive through the valley till Damthang and later back to Haa town for lunch. After lunch drive back to Paro.
Option: Once on Chelela pass there is an option of further continuing to Haa valley or taking up the scenic hike along Chelela ridge to Chela Gungkarpo, a sky burial site and then finally dropping down to a Nunnery perched on the cliff side. In the evening drive back to Paro.
Today, you will hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, Bhutan’s most famous monastery, which stands at 3180m. According to the legend, it is believed that Guru Rimpoche, the 8th century Spiritual Master, flew to this location on the back of a tigress to meditate.
Lunch will be served at Cafeteria Restaurant halfway up on the mountain. Explore the monastery and hike back to Paro.
In the morning, you will drive to the airport for departure. Our representative will bid you farewell.
